Compare Car Insurance with Easy Compare

Car insurance is a legal requirement for UK motorists, and it provides essential peace of mind so you know that in the event of an accident you will have expert assistance in resolving the subsequent issues that are likely to arise.  If an accident is your fault, then the insurer can cover the cost of the other party’s vehicle, and vice versa should the accident be their fault.

There are three levels of car insurance cover, and then additional extras available which vary depending on which provider you choose.  The most basic type available is third party only, which will ensure that the other driver and their car can be covered for repairs or compensation, should you cause an accident.  Many providers don’t offer this level, and instead provide third party, fire and theft as their most basic option.  This will cover the other party, and will also cover you in the event of fire of theft leaving you without a vehicle.

The top level is comprehensive car insurance, and this can include covering damage to your car even if the accident is your fault.  There can be other aspects of the cover which make it more appealing, such as windscreen cover, legal expenses and a courtesy car.  Car insurance providers do differ here, so check the policy details for exactly what benefits are included.

If you drive for over a year without causing any type of accident, then you get a year’s no-claims discount.  Building these up over time will help to keep your premium down, as insurers reward low-risk drivers.  It can also keep your premium down if you select a higher excess, but remember this means you contribute more of your own money if an accident is found to be your responsibility.  Choosing the highest possible excess might not be the best value option over time.
